Decadal Changes in Soil and Atmosphere Temperature Differences Linked With Environment Shifts Over Northern Eurasia

چکیده

The difference between soil and air temperatures (?T) in a specified time is dependent on meteorological conditions, properties of land covers. Understanding ?T critical assessing land–atmosphere thermal interactions changing environment. However, systematic knowledge interannual variations responses to the environmental changes (e.g., snow cover moisture) at decadal scales remain limited. Here, mean annual temperatures, were investigated 217 sites northern Eurasia during 1981–2015. It found that inconsistent as average increase temperature was generally less than air. relationships trends significant upper ground (0.2 0.8 m) over seasonal frost region but insignificant permafrost regions deeper ground. During period, widespread occurred closely responded changes, varied with depth. Among tested factors, thickness dominantly control ?T, followed by duration solar radiation. Both linear nonlinear analyses indicate enhanced depth increases. This study provides first view conjunctions 1981–2015 Eurasia. findings are relevant quantify given impacts future changes.

Probabilistic projections of 21st century climate change over Northern Eurasia

We present probabilistic projections of 21st century climate change over Northern Eurasia using the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Integrated Global System Model (IGSM), an integrated assessment model that couples an Earth system model of intermediate complexity with a two-dimensional zonal-mean atmosphere to a human activity model. Regional climate change is obtained by two downsc...

Winter rain on snow and its association with air temperature in northern Eurasia

This study examines the characteristics of winter (Dec–Feb) rain-on-snow events and their relationship to surface air temperatures to reveal potential changes in rain-on-snow days under a warming climate over northern Eurasia. We found that rain-on-snow events mostly occur over European Russia during winter. Rain-on-snow days increase as air temperature increases and are primarily attributable ...

Decadal Changes in the World's Coastal Latitudinal Temperature Gradients

Most of the world's living marine resources inhabit coastal environments, where average thermal conditions change predictably with latitude. These coastal latitudinal temperature gradients (CLTG) coincide with important ecological clines,e.g., in marine species diversity or adaptive genetic variations, but how tightly thermal and ecological gradients are linked remains unclear. A first step is ...
